Southern Arkansas University

The Southern Arkansas University Board of Trustees on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution accepting the donation of a building on the Magnolia square to be used by the University and the community.

Nine Southern Arkansas University students – Gabrielle Davis, Lily Hesen, Clayton Hawthorne, Timothy Hawthorne, Lindsey Wood, Hannah Springer, Caleigh Moyer, Anna Dillard, and Jacob Steed, along with community members Sandra Wood and Julie Kardas – recently returned from a trip to Paris, France. The trip was led by Honors Director Ed Kardas.

Dr. Abdel Bachri, associate professor of physics, has been named interim dean of the College of Science & Engineering at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas. He will serve in this capacity following the resignation of Dr. Scott McKay, who has accepted a similar position in South Dakota according to the press release.

Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, in a press release, has announced that a new and innovative program will be offered by the College of Education this fall, according to Dr. Trey Berry, president of SAU.

S.A.U. Mulerider Payton Baird of Fouke , who has led the charge at the University since 2014, is set to hand the reins over to the newest Mulerider, Abbie Guin.

Southern Arkansas University staff members were recently recognized for service at the annual Staff Breakfast on Thursday, March 16, 2017, with the top three honors going to Cledis Stuart, Lillie Wright and Tammy Sims.

A May 2016 graduate of Southern Arkansas University has been honored with an outstanding teacher award in Fort Worth, Texas, according to a press release from the university.

Thanks to the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program, the community garden at Southern Arkansas University’s Department of Agriculture will be able to rapidly grow, and through education, outreach and produce, decrease the region’s food deserts.
