Local Man Arrested in Murder investigation Case
LaJason Coakley was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016 by the United States Marshall Service in Texarkana and charged with 1st Degree Murder.
The original charge of 1st Degree Battery was enhanced to 1st Degree Murder when the victim, 25-year old Montel Waller, of this case died from injuries related to the incident on September 12th, 2016.
On August 20, 2016, at approximately 1AM, Texarkana, Arkansas Police were called to a disturbance at the Paradise Club, 2502 E 9th. When police officers arrived they located victim Montel Waller, 25 years of age, who was suffering from a single gunshot wound.
Waller was transported by Lifenet Ambulance to Wadley hospital for medical attention.
Texarkana, Arkansas Police began investigating the shooting and identified LaJason Coakley, born May 30, 1993, as the alleged shooter. A felony arrest warrant for Battery 1st Degree was then issued for his arrest.
Since that time Waller died from his injuries which enhances the original charge to 1st Degree Murder.
