10-Year-Old Sworn in as Texarkana Honorary Police Officer
This is a follow-up to a story I did a couple of days ago. 10-year-old Devarjaye "DJ" Daniel is traveling with his father across the U.S. to have DJ sworn in as an Honorary Police Officer. DJ finally made it to Texarkana to take the oath of office.
Honorary Police Officer
Members of the Arkansas and Texas law enforcement agencies were on hand at the Bi-State Justice Center to swear in DJ and officially make him an Honorary Police Officer of the Texarkana.
Special Ceremony
The special ceremony was supposed to take place at the Post Office this morning at 10 AM but was moved to the Bi-State due to the rain. The move didn't dampen the spirit of the little boy who has been diagnosed with brain and spine cancer.
Devarjaye has always been inspired by his father who was a former military man and loved to see his father in uniform, it was during those times that he had a desire to want to be a police officer.
The mission that he is on is personal to him and with the popularity, he is gaining across the country, he's hoping that this will bring awareness to other kids battling cancer.
"We were honored to have him with us today and be part of our police agency as TAPD Honorary Chief of Police."
We will continue to pray for this amazing young man and his dad as they travel on this journey.
