A&M-Texarkana to Host Collegiate Cross Country Meet Friday Night
There is a new collegiate cross-country program in town. Get ready for the Texas A&M University Texarkana program's first meet this evening Friday, September 9 at the campus near Bringle Lake.
Watch runners from eight different women’s teams and seven men’s teams compete. The women’s race is scheduled to begin at 6 PM and the men will race at approximately 6:45 PM.
The runners will take on a 5-kilometer (3.2 miles) course around and through the A&M-Texarkana campus with the course covering a hilly terrain with winding trails through the university's wooded areas.
According to a press release A&M-Texarkana President, Dr. Emily Cutrer said;
We are so excited to begin this new era of Eagle athletics. Our campus offers a wonderful setting for this type of competition, and we look forward to two great races on Friday.
The public is invited to watch this first cross-country meet and cheer on their favorite runners. Admission is free and there are plenty of great places to watch the runners along the course.
Colleges that will be participating in this event are Centenary College, Cisco College, Henderson State University, Jacksonville College, Jarvis Christian College, North Central Texas College, Philander Smith College, Texas A&M University-Commerce and Texas A&M University-Texarkana.
