Awesome New Local Teen Jazz Band Makes Waves In Texarkana
We found a little gem for you on YouTube of a group of Redwater, Texas high school students, and their poolside jazz band.
We were able to get in touch with one of the members of the band, Noah Whitman and this is what he had to say about this very unique band:
" My name is Noah Whitman, our leader of the band is Mason Windham, and our band is called poolside jazz, we go to school at Redwater high school. Our crew members are Me Noah Whitman, leader Mason Windham, Josh Newsome, Eyan Robinson, Hayden Crowell, Alex Crittenden , and Layton Kordsmeier. We love playing older and classic 70’s and 80’s songs especially if they are funk.
Noah also aid that they really like the funk or funky songs like the old Commodores' song "Brickhouse"
And one of their favorites is Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music"
Noah says that they all enjoy music and have a lot of fun playing with each other. He said that he never thought that he would be doing this at 17 but here he is with all of his friends doing a Jazz Band and as you can see they have a pretty big following.
Most kids his age would be doing something more pop or Rock but this group of kids have developed a passion for this great music and have the skills to back it all up. Check out this video of a recent performance.
The great thing about this Jazz Band? It is student-led, Noah says that they all pick out the music together and have rehearsal as a band to prepare.
