Brandy Returns to Broadway, Joins the Cast of ‘Chicago’ [PHOTO]
Brandy is headed to Broadway next month. The singer-actress has agreed to reprise her performance as Roxie in the Tony-winning musical, Chicago.
According to Playbill, Brandy will play Roxie for a limited summer run at New York’s Ambassador Theatre from Aug. 17-Aug. 31. The R&B mom will be appear alongside Tony Award nominee Tom Hewitt as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, Lana Gordon as Velma Kelly, NaTasha Yvette Williams as Matron “Mama” Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.
This isn’t the first time Brandy has played Roxie in the Chicago musical. The 38-year-old entertainer did a four-month engagement in 2015, and reprised her performance in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.
Brandy went on her Instagram page to announce that she's returning to Broadway to play her favorite stage character. "#RoxieHart She saved me and continues to do so always in #DivineTime," she wrote in the caption.
Chicago is the longest-running American musical, boasting six Tony Awards and a Grammy for best musical cast recording.
