"JUSTICE" in Tennessee apparently means the incarceration of a 16-year-old girl for murdering her rapist in self-defense. This could be my daughter.

Let me introduce you to a young lady who has invaded my thoughts and heart the past 48 hours. Her name is Cyntoia Brown and Her Story is heart wrenching. Cyntoia never had a fair shot at life like my daughter has. She was born to a mother who drank every day throughout her pregnancy, and was diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder. [SIDEBAR: According to her attorney, her exposure to alcohol poison in the womb left her with a damaged brain which caused her to experience the world through the mind of a 10-year-old child.] By the time she was a teenager, Brown's young life consisted of drug abuse, repeated rapes, mental and physical abuse at the hands of a 24-year-old drug dealer and pimp named "Kut Throat".  While most teenage girls were in disarray about what outfit to wear on picture day, Brown, instead, had a gun put to her head and was forced into sex trafficking, sleeping with countless adult men and turning the money over to Cut Throat.

As fate would have it, on August 6 2004, Brown hopped into the truck of John Mitchell Allen, a 43-year-old Nashville real estate agent who had solicited her for sex.  That day, after years of mental, physical, and sexual abuse at the hands of men, the 16-year-old girl found enough courage to put a stop to it once and for all when she felt her life was at stake and shot and killed her perpetrator in self-defense.

Let's fast forward 13 years, to a woman who has served 10 years of a life sentence. The same darkness she woke up in as a teenager is the same hell she wakes up in today at age 28, A PRISONER in Tennessee Prison for Women...... minus, of course, the drug- induced haze and hot, breath of dirty old men having their way with her, doing only God knows what.

Fortunately, Brown's story has recently resurfaced in the media, and celebrities are championing the cause to get her retried and freed.  Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, and Cara Delevigne are leading the pack for the cause. Kim Kardashian even enlisted her high powered attorneys to help work on the case.

Read Rihanna's tweet that demanded concerned celeb's spark to act using the hashtag #freecyntoniabrown.

A Very Flawed System has stolen 10 years of a young lady's life whose tremadic childhood led to a fatal incident that could seal her fate for the remainder of her life. I pray the rallying cries of celebs and other concerned citizens are fruitful in getting this young lady from behind bars and into counseling and the loving arms of good, genuine people. Cyntoia could have been my daughter. She could have been your daughter.  For that matter, she could have been you or me. #freecyntoibrown
