As a person of color, getting pulled over by police can be a frightful experience, so when Erykah Badu was stopped by Dallas police on New Year's Eve, there's no doubt the singer was in for a shock when her reason for being stopped was revealed.

On Sunday night, Badu took to Instagram to post a video of her being pulled over. In the video, Badu turns to the two officers and asks them, "And why are you pulling me over?" One of the officers then looks at the camera and laughingly says, "Because I wanted to say hi."

Doing her best to keep her composure, Badu tells the officer "hi" and gives off an awkward laugh. "WTF BABYLON !! HAPPY NEW YEAERZZZZ!" she wrote in the video's caption.
