A&M-Texarkana Brings Back Popular Program to The Texarkana Community
After a five-year absence, the Center for Financial Literacy and Investment (CFLI) at Texas A&M-Texarkana announced that the Junior Achievement East Texas (JAET) is coming back to the Texarkana community.
This special nonprofit organization helps students with financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship education to K-12 students. The Junior Achievement programs are delivered by volunteers from the local business community. The JAET is based out of Longview, Texas.
Jay Davis, Executive Director of the CFLI at A&M-Texarkana stated in a press release,
We are thrilled to see Junior Achievement returning to Texarkana. The earlier we can start teaching financial literacy, the better equipped our young people will be to navigate the complexities of the financial world. This is an invaluable resource for our community's youth.
The CFLI hosted a luncheon earlier in April. Flecia Droege The Program Coordinator for Junior Achievement East Texas, showcased the financial literacy curriculum to Texarkana area bank and credit union leaders and representatives from our local school districts.
Justin White, Texarkana Market President with Guaranty Bank & Trust said
Guaranty Bank & Trust is excited to welcome Junior Achievement back into our community, and classrooms. We see this as a great opportunity to partner with our local school districts while equipping students with the fundamental foundation of financial literacy.
But the success of this program in Texarkana will rely on a strong volunteer base. The Junior Achievement East Texas will be relying on volunteers from the community who will go to the classrooms and deliver the financial literacy curriculum.
If you are interested in volunteering and making an impact in young students' lives with this program please contact JAET at (903) 297-2202 or email Flecia.droge@ja.org.
