Texarkana’s Museum of Regional History Free Admission to Active Military & Family
The Museum of Regional History in downtown Texarkana is giving back to our military by joining Blue Star Museum Week. They will offer all active-duty military personnel and their families free admission from Saturday, September 27, through October 5.
During this special week, all active-duty military personnel and up to five dependents will receive free admission with a valid military ID. It is a wonderful way for our museum to say 'thank you' to those who serve.
You can see more than 22 permanent exhibits with their self-guided tour system, plus several rotating displays that showcase Texarkana’s unique history.
All Aboard: Texarkana and the Railroads
A featured exhibit this season you don't want to miss is Texarkana and the Railroads. This exhibit highlights how the railways shaped the Texarkana region through freight, passenger trains, and military connections like the Red River Army Depot. The exhibit also honors David Alexander, known as the Black Ivory King. A musician from Stamps, Arkansas, Alexander captured railroad life in the 1930s and 1940s through songs like The Flying Crow and Matchbox Blues. His music can be heard near the Scott Joplin display.
