The Texarkana Homeless Coalition (TXKHC), in partnership with Texas A&M University-Texarkana, Texarkana College, Bridging the Gaps Arkansas, Community Healthcore, Communities Unlimited, Texarkana Emergency Center, and LifeNet, will host a Community-Wide Opioids Education Workshop and Narcan Training on Tuesday, September 24, at the Truman Arnold Center at Texarkana College

The event is free to the public, and lunch will be provided for attendees starting at 11:30 a.m. The educational presentation and Narcan training will begin at 12:00 p.m.

Vashil Fernandez, Chair of the Texarkana Homeless Coalition, emphasized the importance of community action in combating substance use issues:

“This partnership recognizes the growing concern of substance use and abuse in our community,” said Fernandez. “We’ve organized this workshop and training to proactively provide essential resources and support for residents and their families.”

The workshop will be led by professionals from Texarkana Emergency Center and LifeNet. The first 200 participants to register and attend will receive a free box of Narcan, courtesy of Community Healthcore.
