Police Add Two More To the Waterman St Shooting Suspect List
Texarkana Texas Police have been busy this week searching for two men in alleged association with the shooting that took place on Waterman St in Texarkana back on August 29. That shooting left four people injured and now two more men have been added to the wanted list.
Previous Story:
In a Release on Friday, September 8, 2023, Texarkana Texas Police Detective Cliff Harris announced he now has additional felony arrest warrants related to last week's shooting in the 300 block of Waterman Street in Texarkana, Texas.
We are looking for 28 year old Verlon Owens, Jr. of Texarkana, Arkansas and 20 year old Asontea Collins of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, said Detective Harris.
There is also an outstanding warrant for Lakentae Ford, 20, also of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, however, Ford is currently recovering in the hospital from wounds he sustained during the gunfire exchange last week. TTPD said the warrants for all three men are for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Aggravated Assault.
Detective Harris went on to say;
Obviously, we know where Ford is because he's still in the hospital and expect he will be arrested when he's released, but we're trying to find Owens and Collins. Based solely upon the seriousness and savagery of this crime, we consider them both to be very dangerous.
Initially, this story began on Tuesday, August 29th, when Texarkana Texas Police responded to a reported shooting and found there were three men inside the house who had been shot. Two of the men found were in critical condition. Police say that based on what we've been able to determine, a group of armed men walked into the front door and immediately opened fire on the three men inside. Police believe that it was not a random, but rather a planned attack, these suspects were specifically targeting the victims and/or that house. Shortly after the shooting, Ford was transported to the Texarkana Emergency Center by a fourth man named Tristen McAllister of Pine Bluff, AR. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, Ford was immediately transferred to the hospital. McAllister was held for questioning and arrested later that night for the same charge as the men wanted above. McAllister remains in custody at the Bi-State Jail with a $500,000 bond.
If you have any information that could help police find these men, please call 903-798-3116 or, if you wish to stay anonymous, call Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to their arrest.
