UPDATE: Two Dead, One Injured in Domestic Shooting at Texarkana Aluminum in Nash

The Nash Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Tuesday morning in the parking lot of Texarkana Aluminum.

According to the press conference held by the Nash Police, officers were called to Texarkana Aluminium, located at 300 Alumax Drive in Nash, Texas, around 6:37 this morning (May 12). When the officers arrived, they found two men dead and a woman seriously injured.

The victims who died were 48-year-old Eddie Ray Hill Jr. of Texarkana and the suspected shooter, 40-year-old Wendell Lane Champion Jr. of Hope, Arkansas. They also found 37-year-old Candis Jolene Champion of Hope, who was injured at the scene.

Domestic Situation Turned Deadly in Nash at Texarkana Aluminum

According to investigators, the shooting stems from a domestic situation involving Wendell Champion and his wife,  Candis Champion, who worked at Texarkana Aluminum.

Police say Eddie Ray Hill Jr. had just arrived for work when he tried to stop the domestic dispute between Wendell Champion and his wife, Candis. Investigators say Hill was then shot and killed by Champion.

Authorities believe Champion then shot and seriously injured his wife before taking his own life.

Candis Champion was taken to the hospital in Texarkana. She remains in stable condition.

Investigation Ongoing in Nash, Texas

Police said the investigation remains active, but at this time, there is no reason to believe that there are other suspects. They stated there is no threat to the public.

Investigators also confirmed that Wendell Champion had previously been convicted of first-degree murder in Harris County, Texas, back in 2010. He was released on parole in 2025.

The Nash Police Department extended condolences to the victims’ families and to the employees at Texarkana Aluminum affected by the tragedy.

Officials at Texarkana Aluminum have stated they have set up a crisis response team to work with the Nash Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies.  t

They stated that the safety of their employees and the public at large is their primary concern, and they extend their sympathies to everyone involved and to their families.

Early this morning, we received reports that multiple law enforcement and emergency vehicles were responding to a shooting that took place at Texarkana Aluminum on Alumax Road in Nash.

KSLA reported the shooting took place in the parking lot of Texarkana Aluminum.

Three people were shot. Two are dead and one person is injured.

Currently, no suspects are in custody, but officials say that the public is not in any danger.
