3rd Annual Vet Fest Set for August 22 in Texarkana, Arkansas

Texarkana-area Veterans, their families and community supporters are invited to the 3rd Annual Vet Fest on Saturday, August 22, at VFW Denver “Bull” Randleman Post 4562.

The free event will run from 11 AM to 2 PM at 4700 E. 9th Street in Texarkana, Arkansas, with games, food, drinks, fellowship, and information about services available to veterans and their families.

Special Highway 82 Honor to Be Unveiled

The event will open with a special ceremony and unveiling of a sign commemorating the renaming of a section of Highway 82 as the Honorary Denver “Bull” Randleman Highway. Several Arkansas representatives are expected to participate.

Games, Food and Veteran Resources

There will be activities for all ages throughout the afternoon. Adults can enjoy dominoes, card games, and a cornhole tournament, while children can take part in activities including a football throw, inflatable axe-throwing, checkers, skee-ball, and duck fishing.

Vet Fest will also bring together organizations that provide assistance and services to veterans and their families. Participating organizations include:

Tunnel 2 Towers Steel Across America - Texarkana Stop - June 3, 2026

On the 25th anniversary year of 9/11, this steel beam from the Twin Towers in New York that fell on September 11, 2001, is a must-see. The ceremony was very well done and featured short speeches from both Texarkana Mayors and Fire Chiefs. I know many in attendance weren't even alive when the attack happened 25 years ago, but for those of us who remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when the planes struck the towers, it was an amazing thing to see and touch.
