Celebrate Rex Manning Day With Maxwell Caulfield At Geek’d Con
Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, returns to Downtown Shreveport this August. The 10th Anniversary of Geek'd Con will be held at the Shreveport Convention Center, August 22nd-24th, 2025. The event is an amazing weekend where you can create once-in-a-lifetime moments with your favorite celebrities, shop from hundreds of vendor booths, and spend time with your friends & family.
The Economic Impact of Geek'd Con
Comic con style events happen all over the country now, and fans regularly travel out-of-town for these shows. Meaning Geek'd Con brings in a strong economic impact to the Shreveport-Bossier area that can be measured in millions of dollars annually.
But maybe more important than the out-of-market driven economic impact, is the fact that the event provides a positive, family friendly event that Shreveport-Bossier can be proud of. In a region that hears so much negativity, a positive, shining light is very important.
Who Just Got Added To The Geek'd Con Lineup?
Joining this year's lineup is Maxwell Caulfield! Known for multiple roles by multiple generations, and has plenty of geeky credits to his name.
In the 80s, he was the lead in Grease 2 as Michael Carrington, alongside Michelle Pfeiffer. Then he went on to star in Dynasty as Miles Colby, who would enjoy his own spinoff show, The Colby's. He would return to the role in the miniseries Dynasty: The Reunion.
Maxwell Caulfield Was Rex Manning In Empire Records
The 1990s saw Maxwell land roles that he would earn pop culture recognition that would last decades. Playing the role of Rex Manning in the film Empire Records, Maxwell was essentially the villain of the film. But even the bad guy can be celebrated with his own day...Rex Manning Day that is.
He would serve as a face scene by millions of kids who stayed home sick from school when he landed the role of Pierce Riley on the show All My Children. He was a mainstay on the soap opera for 50 episodes.
Did You Know Maxwell Caulfield Was James Bond
How about this...Maxwell is a legitimate James Bond actor. He played the role in one of the most well received James Bond video games of all time, 2002's James Bond 007: Nightfire. The game was nominated for "Console First-Person Action Game of the Year" at the 6th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, and it was was a runner-up for GameSpot's annual "Best Shooter on GameCube" award.
Need more geekness...remember Spider-Man The Animated Series? Maxwell's character spent numerous episodes over 3 years giving Spider-Man the business. He voiced the Ultimate Spider Slayer, Alistair Smythe, through the series.
Come celebrate a belated (or early, however you want to view it) Rex Manning Day at Geek'd Con this year with Maxwell Caulfield.
