Security Change Announced for State Fair of Texas Visitors
(Dallas, Texas) Today, Texans and those non-Texans attending the State Fair of Texas will be greeted by the familiar phrase, "Howdy Folks" from Big Tex!
Big Tex Welcomes Fairgoers
Standing 55 feet tall, wearing his 95-gallon hat and size 96 boots, Big Tex welcomes fair attendees each year with his left arm extended out to his side and his right arm beginning to wave at them. He'll be standing there in Big Tex Circle near the Tower
Building Food Court and Grand Place building with the Midway behind him until the fair ends Sunday, October 19th.
Entertainment and Attractions at the Fair
Fairgoers are in for a time full of fun, excitement, lights, and entertainment. There's live music on the main stage daily, along with other family-friendly shows and activities throughout the fair. Countless vendors will be on-site along with representatives at the new car show, there's a livestock show, and a couple of high-profile football games inside Cotton Bowl Stadium.
Food and Midway Fun
Since it's the State Fair of Texas, you know it's going to be one of the best midways ever with lots of fair rides, games, and food. When you attend the fair, you've gotta be on the lookout for the Big Tex Award-winning badges, because these food booths are serving up some very creative and award-winning tastes.

New Security Rule: Clear Bag Policy
When you're headed to the State Fair of Texas, you'll want to be aware of one of the security changes. This year, the fair is implementing a clear bag policy. State Fair of Texas Security Director Jeff Cotner tells WFAA that the clear bag policy is their biggest policy change this year.
We're asking everyone to start to search for our changeover into a clear bag policy, which is the best practice within this special community. You still will go through weapon screening as you come in."
Clear bags are now required at the fair, except for small clutch bags or purses smaller than 4.5 x 6.5 inches.

When you think about it, you don't really need to be carrying around anything larger than that anyway, because it will just become heavy, and you'll have to say to someone 'Watch my purse' while you ride that carnival ride!
