Everything is bigger in Texas and that also means jackpots.  Even though gambling is not legal in the state, Texans can enjoy getting lucky through the lottery.  The Texas Lottery began in 1992 when the first ticket was sold and Texans have been testing their luck since then through scratch-offs and picking numbers.

Texas joined the Mega Millions game back in 2005 and Texans have been winning big ever since. However, some changes are coming to the game.

What Changes Are Being Made to Texas Mega Millions?

According to the Texas Lottery, Texans playing Mega Millions have won 200 prizes of $1 million or more since 2005.  With the new changes, Texans may see more winning.

  • Bigger Prizes at every non-jackpot tier - $2-$1M now $10 - $10M
  • Better odds to win the jackpot 1:243 odds to 1:23 odds
  • Larger starting jackpots - $20M to $50M

Every Play purchased for the new game will include its own Multiplier, providing the chance for all non-Jackpot prizes to be multiplied by 2, 3, 4, 5 or even 10 times.

Friday, April 4th will end the Mega Millions we play right now.  The revamped version of the game will start on Saturday, April 5th.  The first drawing with the changes instituted will be on Tuesday, April 8th.
