The grass is growing now that winter is done, and now we're all getting into the yards to spruce them up for Spring. However, some are putting their kids and grandchildren in danger while cutting the grass.

We all know that kids love to ride on things, and one attraction is the riding mower; however, that can be very dangerous.

In recent weeks, I have seen several photos on social media that show people riding lawn mowers in their yard, and on the driver's lap is a kid. While cutting the grass, parents or grandparents are allowing kids to sit on their laps as they move through the yard.

Again, we know kids love to ride on mowers, but this is so dangerous, especially when the blade on the lawn mower is engaged.

A few years back, we had a report of a child falling off a riding mower and it ran over her, while the blade was on. It's one story that I'll never forget because I remember thinking to myself how horrifying this incident had to have been for both the kid and the person driving the mower..

In the event of a kid asking to ride a mower in your yard, do as I often do, I allow my child to ride with me once the grass is cut and the blade is not engaged. I should also add that when my child is riding the mower with me, we are moving at a very low rate of speed in the yard.

This is just a friendly reminder to be very careful in your yard this Spring and Summer. Sometimes we neglect the small things, and we just don't want any child getting injured while we're working in your yard.

So until then, enjoy the sun and flowers in your yard, and I hope that all of you have a great time with friends and family.

Here's a video of testimonials that show and explain the dangers of letting kids ride on lawnmowers.
