According to this KMDL article, Asian needle ants have already taken residence in the Lone Star State, and if the problems other southern states are experiencing repeat their self here, we could be in for a very suffocating summer, literally.

Ants have traditionally been one of my favorite insects because let's be honest for a moment, nobody has too many preferred insects in their life, even the insects that are native to Texas like mosquitos are not really welcome. Ants are great because they feed on other, more annoying insects (pests), and they help cultivate the soil, and are big time garden helpers like butterflies and honey bees.

Additionally, we already have enough invasive species threatening our native habitats that we definitely do not need anymore, especially if those invaders are also deadly to humans. Sure, fire ants have an unpleasant bite and can be dangerous if they swarm you like wasps, but normally their bite is brief and you heal just as quickly.
The issue with Asian needle ants is their stings can cause anaphylaxis, and people have literally died from just one sting.
