The El Paso Medieval Combat Group Has Been Meeting Every Week Since 1983

El Paso is the land of fire, a scorching wasteland of monsters, myth, and Mexican might. Tis' a land where the mightiest warriors have trained in the blistering heat of the Chihuahuan desert for so long that even the fires of the great Dragon God Bahamut would feel like a chill breeze.

The most boring and uninteresting people in El Paso believe that there is nothing to do here. Despite the incredible culture around us and the even more incredible people who are constantly hosting events of literally all kinds. In this case, I mean constantly hosting events since the 80's! El Paso's Medieval Combat group has been meeting up at Memorial Park every Saturday since 1983. Yes, on every 100 degree Saturday, they are there. Foam swords in hand, sweat and blood on the grass. (JK, there is PROBABLY not any blood.)

I actually remember stumbling across this group on accident one Saturday when I first moved to El Paso. I was running errands and drove through Memorial Park on a steamy 103 degree day and you better believe the EP Medieval Combat crew was out there! Fully dressed in combat gear with their unique weapons, a group in a circle while two stood in the middle and fought valiantly!

Most peoples only real connection to LARPing or Live Action Role Playing is usually the 2008 movie Role Models with Paul Rudd and Sean William-Scott. Which isn't actually a terrible depiction of LARPing. Especially considering one of the main actors, Ken Jeong, actually went and hung out in huge LARPing groups to really bring some authenticity to his role.

If you check out the groups social pages, you will see that people of all types join up every Saturday for a bit of Medieval Combat. Women, men, jocks and geeks, dorks and nerds, everyone is represented on El Paso's battlegrounds. Go out and join 'em! 12pm every Saturday at Memorial Park.
