J.W.’s News Update: Tuesday, November 8, 2011

There is a Tornado Watch in effect for the area until 6pm this evening. Severe Thunderstorms are possible with heavy rains, damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornados across the area this afternoon and early evening.

Voters in both Arkansas and Texas are headed to the polls today. In Arkansas voters  are considering extending a bond issue they first passed back in 1999. The funds go to repair and rehabilitate roadways and interstate highways in the Natural State.

In Texas voters are wading through 10 consitutional amendments. Polls close in Texas at 7pm and in Arkansas at 7:30 pm.

A traffic accident yesterday afternoon involving a school bus and a suv sent two people to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Texas side police say the accident occurred at the intersection of West 37th street and Elizabeth when the driver of the suv failed to yield the right of way and was struck by the bus. No one on the school bus was injured.

In Sports:

The Liberty-Eylau Leopards are hosting a hot dog supper and community football playoff pep rally this evening at the high school. The hot dog supper ia $3 dollars and includes chips and a drink and will be from 5:30 to 6:30 at the Media Center. The pep rally follows starting at 6:30 at the Rader Dome. Playoff tickets will be sold and their will be a concession stand. L-E takes on Carthage in Longview on Thursday Night.
