Oktoberfest Returns to DeKalb, Texas This Saturday, October 1
Question: Oh sure there's plenty of fun scheduled for the end of October, but what can we do at the beginning? Answer: Oktoberfest in DeKalb... and you are welcome.
DeKalb Oktoberfest kicks off Friday when Sunshine Carnival opens and rides and midway-fun begins. The Carnival will be there all weekend.
Saturday is the big day with events all day and into the night:
6 AM: Pancake Breakfast at the New Fire Station on Cobb Burkett Ln.
8 AM - 4 PM: Over 60 vendors will be set up down Runnels and Bowie Streets to the Family Life Center.
10 AM: Oktoberfest Parade! The parade will move along Hwy 82 from east to west.
Following the parade, several events will begin, including:
- Art Show and Quilt Show in the Family Life Center.
- Kids Games and Face Painting in the Telford Building.
- Cake Walk in the middle of Runnels St.
- Beans and Cornbread at the Williams House Museum.
11 AM - 1 PM: Backyard Jam - featuring local music in front of the State Theater
12 PM - 2 PM: Bingo in the Storm Shelter
5:30 PM: Octoberfest Show - DeKalb has a Disco in it, all at the High School Gym.
7 PM - 10 PM: FREE Concert! Lane Bricker and Band, downtown next to the Gazebo.
