The Little Rock, Arkansas Out of the Darkness Community Walk is coming up Saturday November 3rd.    The funraiser walk  is to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This is one of over 175 Out of the Darkness Commuity Walks taking place across the United States this fall season. Nationally more than 45,000 walkers are expected to participate. It is estimated that each year nearly 1 million Americans make a suicide attempt, more than 32,000 die by suicide, and more than 20 million people in this country suffer from depression. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among teenagers and young adults and the second leading cause of death for college students. As well, older Americans over the age of 65 account for 16% of all suicide deaths. The walker registration will take place at 9 a.m. at the CLinton Presidential Center in Little Rock and the walk begins at 10 a.m. and will proceed to the River Market Amphitheater and back to the Presidential Center.
