Shutdown Effects Garden At White House [VIDEO]
Squirrels are eating everything they can lay their paws on.
Most gardeners know what it’s like to have squirrels help themselves to their fruits and vegetables. The garden planted on the South Lawn of the White House is no different. The squirrels are enjoying the bounty of tomatoes, mushrooms, and peppers.
The National Parks Service has stopped trimming, fertilizing, transplanting and mowing the grass since the shutdown began 16 days ago. This includes tending the 1,500-square-foot garden First Lady Michelle Obama had planted on the South Lawn.
Therefore, until the government is functioning fully, the National Parks Service is only allowed to water the garden as well as remove trash.
