The Texarkana, Texas Farmers’ Market will host its annual "Homemade Salsa" Contest Saturday.

Here is what the Texarkana Farmers Market had to say about this year's contest:

The City of Texarkana, Texas Farmers’ Market will host the Best Salsa in the Ark-La-Tex Competition on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 500 N. Stateline Avenue. This will be the last Market of the 2022 Summer season, so make plans to come early and enjoy local farm fresh produce provided by the best vendors in Town!

The Farmers’ Market will be open for all at 7 AM until sold out, and the salsa competition begins at 9 AM until every contestant has been judged. Customers are encouraged to sample each salsa and vote for their favorites. Some contestants may even let you purchase a jar to take home! Winners will be announced at 12:00 PM. Entry into the contest and market is free, and pets are always welcome!

This year the Texarkana Farmers’ Market has a new spot at 500 N State Line Avenue, which is adjacent to the Federal Courthouse and Post Office. Here is a diagram of what the setup will look like.

During the market season from  April 30th through August 6th, the highlighted area in yellow on the diagram will be closed to host the Farmers’ Market each Saturday from 5:30 am until 1 pm.

The Texarkana Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 7 am until they are sold out. You can find many great locally grown items including products that are picked at the peak of freshness for you to enjoy. There is also a kid's area for the little one to play in while mom and dad do some shopping. The kid's area includes blocks, chalk, and other items for the kids to play with and is centrally located for your convenience.

The Texarkana, Texas Farmers' Market is an open-air market in historic downtown Texarkana that provides an avenue for local vendors to sell their products while promoting healthy, locally grown food.
