A child is now in stable condition after being found in a Texas A&M-Commerce residence hall with two dead women, according to university police.  

The shooting took place today, February 3 at Pride Rock Hall which houses freshmen, according to the school's website. University Police Department Chief Bryan Vaughn said officers responded to a call that came from another building resident at approximately 10:17 a.m. local time. Upon arrival, officers found two dead women in a room. and a toddler estimated to be about two years old.

The university did not release identification for the women or the small child. All classes, programs and events were canceled for the rest of the day and will resume on Thursday per a statement from University President Mark Rudin said. .
