A horrific incident last night in Shreveport has the hearts of many very heavy today. A 4-year-old boy was struck in the head around 11:00 last night by a bullet being fired into a car.

Shreveport police said they received a call shortly after 11 pm from a woman saying she was in front of the police station with a young child in the car who had been shot. According to KSLA, investigators believe the shooting took place in the 100 block of North Pierre Avenue near the intersection of Buena Vista Street. It is believed that this is the location the child suffered a gunshot wound to the head after a gunman in another vehicle fired into the victim's car.

The child has been identified by his grandmother, Twyla Smith, as 4-year-old Messiah Murphy.  Police say two adults and two children were in the vehicle at the time of the incident, but no other injuries have been reported.  As it stands, no arrest have been made, and very little details were available as of this (Friday) morning.
