Hard to believe it's almost October and that means fall festivals, lots of special events and of course Halloween. The hunt is already on to find the most unique Halloween contest humanly possible. But what about our nonhuman furry friends? Do you plan on dressing up your family pet this October 31 for a little trick or treating?

I do not know how the guy who got credit for this video got the squirrel to cooperate. It almost looks like he rigged the camera with a tiny carrying strap on top of it somehow, and the squirrel finally got it right.

Visit a lemonade stand in Texarkana today to support our local animal shelter. Make a donation for a glass of lemonade on Monday, July 25, from 11:30AM to 1PM and again from 5- 6PM at the corner of McKnight and Windmere in Texarkana, Texas. All of the proceeds from the lemonade stand will benefit the Animal Care and Adoption Center.

Back in 2010 Damian Aspinall had a chance to reunite with a gorilla that had been reintroduced to the wild 5 years before. The video will amaze you. I believe my throat lumped just a bit, but don't tell anyone, it's a little embarrassing.

This week's featured pet is an adult shepherd mix from the shelter. He is already neutered, which means the adoption fee is less than $60. Sarge is good on a leash and loves affection. He is a great guard dog and no one will arrive at your home without him letting you know that you have company. His bark is scary but he is a sweetheart.

Three dogs at the animal shelter will soon be taking a trip out of the wrong door if they are not adopted or moved into foster homes quickly. Spike, Candy and Dotty deserve a chance to have a life beyond the confinement of the animal shelter. Please share their video and photos to help find great homes for each of these sweet dogs.

Ethan is a very smart young dog. I am shocked that he is still at the shelter. Ethan is a handsome buckskin Pit Bull. He is young and laid back, making him a good choice for a family or first time dog owner.
