Help send the Texarkana Thunder Turtles Swim Team to the 2020 AAU Jr Olympics

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! There will be a Fundraiser Night at Newk’s Eater on Friday, July 10th from 5pm until 9pm.

On July 26, 2020 the Texarkana Thunder Turtles swim team will depart for the 2020 AAU Jr Olympics to be held in Coco Beach, Florida. The team has been working extra hard the past few weeks to get back in shape after a two-month Covid-19 lay off. While the Covid-19 shut down kept the team from being able to practice for a short period of time, they are now back in the water gearing up for the Jr Olympics.

Each year the Texarkana team takes a team to compete. Preparing for this event was very different this year. AAU made the decision on holding the Jr Olympics in Florida in May and that left the team little time to fundraise. Newk’s Eatery knew of the situation the team was in and stepped up to help them out. We are asking to please help spread the message about this fundraiser night. 15% of the receipts turned in that night will go to the team. All monies collected from this event will go towards the housing at the event as well as some food costs. Taking 20+ teenage boys to a competition requires a large facility to house them and feed them. Swim isn’t as exciting as many other sports that get great press coverage, but I can tell you one thing about the Thunder Turtles, “They make a big splash”.
