Investigation After Body Found in Red River

Miller County Sheriffs Deputies investigating after a body was found floating in the Red River at the Miller County/Hempstead County Line.

Authorities say on Sunday, June 3 at approximately 6:00pm, Miller County Deputies responded to the Index Bridge over the Red River after receiving a 911 call reporting a body in the water.  Upon arrival, Deputies observed the body of a male subject floating approximately 300 yards East of the bridge.  Arkansas Game and Fish Wildlife Officers responded and working in conjunction with the MCSO Deputies, recovered the body.  The victim was subsequently identified as 43 year old Michael Cleavenger, of Texarkana, Arkansas. 

Although there is no indication of foul play, the case remains under investigation and the victim has been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
