Only One Thing Is Better Than Being A Dad, Being A Poppy!
Father's Day is just around the corner and first let me say that I'm very proud of all my kids, I was never a perfect father and they're not perfect either, but they're mine and I love them and I'm super proud of all of them. Just about two months ago I found out something that will surprise nobody reading this that has been there before me... becoming a grandparent is the greatest thing in the world.
My first-born Stephanie and her hubby Justin did an amazing thing a couple of months ago, they brought forth my first grandchild named Sara Elizabeth.
Since they live out in the country about an hour west of Houston, and Poppy, (that's me), lives almost six hours away, there's going to be a lot I will miss, but just a few weeks ago on Mother's Day weekend, Poppy got to spend some quality time with Baby Sara, and it was magnificent.
Looking back it saddens me how fast our kids grow up, I can only imagine how much faster it will be for the grandchildren. Thank God for the Internet and Social Media... Wow, never thought I would say that! Hopefully, I won't miss too much.
It won't be long before that little girl gets to come to stay with Poppy and Mimi for a few days and finds out just what a couple of nutballs we truly are. Then, as promised, we'll get to feed her lots of sugar, shake her up and hand her back to Mom and Dad.
Just kidding, we wouldn't really shake her up.
It may be a while before I get to write another one of these, my boys don't seem to be in a hurry, and that's fine because none of them are married yet. I'm old-fashioned that way.
So, if you will forgive me and indulge me a little in this very personal post, God knew what he was doing when he invented grandbabies.
