
Step Back in Time: Arkansas’ Civil War Weekend Brings 1864 Battle to Life Near Texarkana
If you love history, be sure to mark your calendars for this great event in November in Arkansas.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, November 1 and Sunday, November 2, for a weekend of living history just down the road from Texarkana in Prescott at the Prairie D’Ane Battlefield.

The event is hosted by the Nevada County Depot Museum in partnership with Arkansas' Historic Washington State Park. The Civil War Weekend brings the 1864 Prairie D’Ane skirmish to life with a full-scale reenactment, guided camp tours, and interpretive programs.
History Comes Alive as You Step Back in Time at Prairie D’Ane Battlefield
You can watch the battlefield action unfold, explore authentic military camps, and meet reenactors who share what life was like for soldiers and civilians during the Civil War. Admission to the reenactment is just $10 per vehicle, making this a great educational and fun outing for families and history lovers.

Jamie Simmons, the Director of the Nevada County Depot Museum, said in a press release,
Civil War Weekend at Prairie D’Ane Battlefield offers a unique window into the experiences of soldiers and civilians alike. Through battle reenactments, living history demonstrations, and guided tours, visitors gain a deeper understanding of how this skirmish shaped our region’s history.
Explore the Battlefield
The Prairie D’Ane Battlefield Park is located at 2243 Highway 19 North. The park is 800 acres of the original 1864 site and includes fishing ponds, picnic and camping areas, and walking trails.
