One of Arkansas' lakes is being drained for much-needed upgrades and improvements Lake Conway in Conway, Arkansas. So, What is that old saying, "Someone's trash is another man's treasure."

Treasure Hunt

According to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, this renovation project will last up to 5 years to complete but in the meantime, AGFC officials are allowing the general public to come and hunt for items where the water has been drained.

Permit Required

It's basically a treasure hunt for things that have sitting at the bottom of the lake for decades and have washed up during the drainage. However, anyone who wishes to be a part of this hunt will need a treasure-hunting permit from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Get your permit here.

The permit was created because of the interest from people even prompting a Facebook group with 4,000 + members, according to a story from THV11. Lake Conway is 32 minutes West of Little Rock just off I-40.

The only things you are not allowed to take home include vegetation, dirt, and rocks that are native to the region.

The AGFC says that treasure hunting will be allowed from sunrise to sunset only and you must carry your permit with you at all times.

So get your metal detectors ready and head to Lake Conway in Arkansas for a good old-fashioned treasure hunt. You never know what you will find on a lake that is 75 years old!
