Quick thinking by a sheriff's deputy early Wednesday resulted in the arrest of a man who police say was driving a stolen Lexus around Texarkana while toting a rifle and drugs in the vehicle.

According to a press release from the Bowie County Sheriff's Office, on March 23, 2016 at 3:06AM, Deputy Michelle Carrier was northbound on Buchanan Road in the center turn lane waiting to turn onto Loop 151 when a maroon Lexus approached her travelling south on Buchanan Road. The vehicle stopped when it was unnecessary for it to do so before turning onto Loop 151. The vehicle remained stopped for about one minute before turning. This was very suspicious to Deputy Carrier who turned to follow the car.

She ran the license plate number on the Lexus and found it had been reported as stolen to the Texarkana, Texas Police Department. Deputy Carrier stopped the stolen vehicle in the 4100 block of South Lake Drive. She and Texarkana, Texas Police Officer Colton Johnson  took the driver into custody.

The driver was identified as Davian Ramond Stiger. A search of the stolen vehicle allegedly produced a rifle, 18 pills, a bag of marijuana and 97 grams of methamphetamine.

Stiger was transported to the Bi-State Jail where he was booked in for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance Over Four Grams and Under Two Hundred Grams, Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces.

Judge Nancy Talley later set Stiger’s bonds at $10,000 for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, $75,000 for Possession of a Controlled Substance Over Four Grams and Under Two Hundred Grams, $15,000 for Possession of Dangerous Drugs and $3,000 for Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces.
