T.I. has reportedly signed on to star in a major film that revolves around the ongoing water crisis in Flint, Mich.

Deadline announced on Tuesday (June 11) that Tip will topline a film called Flint, which is set against the Flint Water Crisis in Michigan that has affected over 100,000 residents. The fictional movie, produced by Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment, is about a spiritually reformed ex-convict who finds himself entangled in a murder mystery while the polluted water crises rage on in his hometown of Flint.

Overbrook's James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett will serve as executive producers alongside Harris and Brian Sher from Grand Hustle Films as well as the late filmmaker John Singleton.

The last time a project about Flint water crisis was presented onscreen was in 2017 with the Lifetime television movie Flint, which starred Queen Latifah.

T.I. has been keeping himself busy in Hollywood. Last summer, he appeared in the box-office hit Ant-Man and the Wasp. This year, the Atlanta rapper-actor will star alongside Eddie Murphy in the Dolemite biopic, Dolemite Is My Name, as well as the RZA-directed heist thriller Cut Throat City, and Paul W.S. Anderson’s upcoming film Monster Hunter.
