Have Lunch On Us at TC’s Black History Month Celebration
Texarkana College invites you to come out and enjoy their Black History Month Celebration 11 AM - 1 PM, Wednesday, February 27th at the Truman Arnold Student Center Great Room, and Majic 93.3 is buying your lunch!
Be sure to listen to Majic 93.3 during the 12:00 hour for a chance to win lunch from the soul food sensation, OFF the FIRE when you join me at Texarkana College as we celebrate the culture and accomplishments of Black Americans throughout our history! The celebration will feature:
- Lunch by OFF the FIRE for $10 & $5 for students (Majic 93.3 will be given away all week)
- Performance by Spring Lake Park Elementary Precious Gems - Pearls
- Entertainment by The Scholars Drumline
- Interactive Historical Timeline

Background On Speakers
Dr. Joycelyn Elders
- First person in the state of Arkansas to become board certified in pediatric endocrinology
- Sixteenth Surgeon General of the United States, the first African American and only the second woman to head the U.S. Public Health Service
- Inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame in 1995 and the Arkansas Women's Hall of Fame in 2016
Derrick McGary
- Graduate of Texas High, Texarkana College and Texas A&M University-Texarkana
- Youngest member elected to the Texarkana, Texas City Council at 21-years-old
- First African-American granted a State Farm Insurance Agency in the 96-year history of the company
