Texarkana Police Warn of New Email Scam in The Area
Scammers, they just won't stop. There is a new scam going on around the Texarkana area and the Texarkana Texas Police are putting out a warning to beware of this one because it could be costly.
According to the TTPD Facebook page, there have been fake emails received at several businesses in the Texarkana area over the past month. The emails look as though they are from one of the business's employees.
In the scam email the 'employee' asks for a change to his or her direct deposit account information for their paycheck. Unfortunately, the real employee did not make this request and the employer could easily fall for this scam and change the direct deposit to the scammer account instead.
Please remember to verify emails that are asking for personal information from you, your family, employees and co-workers. Remember to also never click on links in emails unless you know who the sender is. If it seems strange or not in the wording that you would expect from someone it probably isn't from them and the link could have a virus or malware that would be able to get to your personal information stored on your computer.
