The Scholars and Texarkana College Black Student Association present "Keeping History Alive - Know The Past, Shape The Future" on Saturday, June 29 at 6 PM, at Texarkana College in the Stilwell Theatre.

The evening will be filled with education, empowerment and entertainment, as the young Scholars will explore African American and Hispanic History and Culture. Chiquita Burks shared the following:

We decided to add the Hispanic culture to our program. In actuality, the African American culture and the Hispanic cultures are a lot alike. Both are very rich in history, and the Hispanic culture experienced many things we did as a minority.

The evening will feature African drum and dance performances by special guests, Baba wasi & Ayubu Kamau from Dallas, Texas. One of the highlights of the evening, in my opinion is getting a chance to purchase a variety of hand-made products from our little Scholar entrepreneurs! So, make sure you bring a little change with you to help support these young people in their entrepreneurial endeavors. Proceeds will go toward the Scholars attending Texarkana College's Kids College.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for youth. The Scholars is a non profit organization, and they are always open to donations and/sponsorships. For more information contact Ms. Rhonda Dulberry at 903-276-8813 or Ms. Chiquita Burks at 903-826-8884.
