Trump Admin. Creates New Conscience & Religious Freedom Division
Many are waiting today to hear the specific details of the overhaul the Trump Administration is giving to the Health and Human Services office Civil Rights division.
Basically, the Trump administration is creating a new conscience and religious freedom division within the HHS department to to give doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals a choice to opt out of providing services that go against their morals and religious beliefs. As it stands, the conservative policy appears to be very broad and is designed to allow medical professionals to decline participating in abortions and treatment of transgender patients.
Some women's and LGBT rights and physicians groups worry that the new policy will even further discriminate against already vulnerable groups thus making inequities in health care worse.
