Say it ain't so! William Shatner, pictured left with wife Elizabeth, is set to launch a new CD later this year. Heaven knows I love the "Shat", I'm a Trekkie from way back, but Bill, really, seriously, you can't sing.

The CD will be titled Searching For Major Tom, featuring some formerly great songs like; Deep Purple's "Space Trucking", Frank Sinatra's "Lost in the Stars", David Bowie's "Space Oddity", and yes, Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". YIKES!

And check out the guest stars making appearances on this CD, Brad Paisley, Peter Frampton, Ritchie Blackmore, Johnny Winter, Steve Howe from Yes and jazz legend Ernie Watts just to name a few.

Sample some of Shatner's vocal work from the 70's below and you'll understand why my ears are "not" looking forward to hearing some of these re-makes. However, I must admit some morbid curiosity. It's kinda like watching a train wreck, no matter how much you grit your teeth and wince, you just can't take your eyes, or in this case ears, off of it. True collectors of William Shatner memorabilia will not be able to resist a tasty morsel like this.

Complete details are on Shatner's website.

Go get 'em Bill, I can't wait to hear it.
