Can you believe these 10 crazy animals are legal for you to own in Arkansas?

Like most of you, I am a pet owner, two dogs to be exact, heck 69 percent of Arkansas are pet owners. You would think with so many deer in our area you can have one as a pet but in this story deer are just some of the pets you cannot have in Arkansas.

If your cat or dog seems to be getting a little lonely or you are looking to spice things up at your house when it comes to getting a wild pet. Here is a list of 10 different types of pets you can have in Arkansas and the list is crazy. Now I want to make it clear I would not condone owning some of these, but it is interesting what we can own in Arkansas.

Indian and green peafowls

The peacock as most of us know is pretty to look at, but I am not so sure would be ok to own. I do remember a fish restaurant in Texarkana that had a couple on their property.

Wolf

Yes, a wolf is legal to own in Arkansas. I love dogs, but a wolf is huge and may not be the best choice for you unless you a looking for something to protect your property.

Camel

We all love camels and you can find them in most of those drive-thru safaris like the one I did a story on earlier this year.

Ball Python

I know some people out there love their snakes, but this is a big nope from me.

Buffalo

Here is another animal you may see at a drive-thru zoo in our area but wild ones have injured people in our national parks. There were at one time a few of them in a pasture in Fouke.

Bearded Dragons

This little guy doesn't look too crazy. But these guys can weigh over a pound and get to 2 feet long.

Bobcats

I am not a cat person for sure, I am highly allergic, but these bobcats can get up to 40 pounds that is all I need to know about them.

Coyotes

We don't see these very often around here. but we hear them at night for sure. These coyotes are stealthy, but would not be on my list of pets I would like to own.

Long-tailed chinchillas

These cute little things are on the endangered list because of being hunted for their soft fur. They can get up to 15 inches long.

Tegu

The Tegu is a lizard that is found in South America. The Tegu is a problem in Florida for some of the wildlife because of its hunting habits.
