17 Things You Should Never Donate to a Tex-Ark Goodwill Store
You may have noticed that the Texarkana, Texas Goodwill Thrift Store at 3410 St. Michael Drive has been closed, that's because they are working on a complete renovation and will be celebrating their Re-Grand Opening this Friday, January 27.
There will be so much more to choose from in the revamped store and if you are a person who just loves to shop for a great deal you're probably going to love it. However, if you are someone who likes to make a donation to Goodwill let's be clear, just because you want to get rid of it, doesn't always mean Goodwill can accept what you donate. Many folks will be Spring cleaning soon and getting rid of items and things they no longer want or use but let's be sensible, nobody wants to wear a torn shirt or sit on a stained-up sofa. While your intentions may be good it's not always the right thing if you do not know Goodwill policies.
Many Goodwill stores across the country including the ones in Texas and Arkansas have restrictions and safety guidelines to follow on what they can and will not accept.
I have put together a list of some things that Goodwill Thrift Stores will not accept in Texas or Arkansas.
Items You Shouldn't Donate
Firearms/Ammunition
Auto Parts
Old Tires/Wheels
Chemical-Based Items/Paint, Oil/Household Cleaning Supplies
Propane Tanks/Grills
Gas Powered Equipment
Stained Mattresses/Box Springs/Waterbeds
Old Televisions
Baby Beds/Cribs
Car Seats
Damaged Furniture
Large Appliances/Refrigerators/Washers
Pianos/Organs
Medical Supplies/Medical Equipment
Building Supplies
Torn Clothes/Torn Shoes
Food/Beverages
Remember, if you are not sure check with the store before you waste a trip in your loaded-down vehicle. That would really be a downer to do all that hard work packing up the car only to find out they cannot accept it. If you are unable to donate you may want to check with our local recycling center to see what they may be able to do or how to dispose of your items properly and safely.
