Students at Texas A&M University-Texarkana will host a community wide candlelight vigil in memory of the victims of the Orlando tragedy this Thursday, June 16, at 8:30PM on the pond-side patio in front of the University Center on the campus at 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas.

A&M-Texarkana President Dr. Emily Cutrer will welcome guests. Alana Briley will sing the National Anthem and make brief remarks. Speakers will include Joseph Bales, district manager of the Social Security Administration and A&M-Texarkana students.

Richie Ritter-Reese, an A&M-Texarkana student and president of the Student Government Association, will read the names of the victims during a slideshow. The university library’s Liberty Bell replica will be sounded after each name.

The event is being organized by students at A&M-Texarkana and is open to students, faculty, staff and the entire community.
