If you drive in Arkansas let it be known that there are now left lane restrictions in multilane highways.

Driving in the Left Lane on Mulilane Roads Now Banned Unless...

Starting today, Wednesday, July 28 vehicles are banned from the left lane of a multilane highway unless one of the following four conditions are in effect:

  1. When overtaking and passing another vehicle.
  2. When all other lanes are closed to traffic.
  3. When all other lanes are in disrepair or otherwise undrivable or unsafe.
  4. When preparing to exit on the left.

But Wait. Did You Know This When Passing Another Vehicle?

But here is a law that has always been in effect, but I did not know about it. According to 4029TV website:

The Arkansas law still requires all drivers to go slower than the speed limit, even when passing. The left lane is not a "fast lane" or a "speeding lane."

Oops! Well, now I know! You can read the bill that was approved on April 30th of this year. No word on the fine or ticket amount if you get caught breaking this law, so we will just have to wait and see. In the meantime be sure to stay in the right lane on the interstate or other multilane highways in the state of Arkansas.
