COVID-19 Update for Bowie/Miller and Surrounding Counties

This morning during the Joint Operations Press Conference it was revealed that there are currently 9 active COVID-19 cases in Bowie County, Miller County, Arkansas currently has 2 positive cases. Cass County Texas has 2 active cases. This number includes 2 employees at LaSalle Corrections. According to Dr. Matt Young the Bowie County Health Authority, there are currently well over 150 people in the Texarkana area that are under investigation and awaiting test results.
The first death related to the virus in Texarkana was reported Monday in Bowie County.
Sunday night, Gov. Abbott issued an updated travel order that went into effect yesterday, Monday, March 30 at noon. The update states that noone is allowed to travel from Louisiana to Texas unless they’re commercial, military or medical. Anyone else traveling to Texas from Louisiana are required to quarantine for 14 days.
Health Care Express had designated their Wake Village location as a COVID-19 testing center. You can get results in 1-3 days. Criteria for testing include: fever, cough, sore throat, and shortness of breath. The testing center is located at 4701 W 7th St., Wake Village, TX 75501.
