First Ever Glow in the Dark LED Playground Coming to Texas
Texarkana will not have to travel too far this Fall to enjoy a first-of-its-kind Glow in the Dark playground in Farmers Branch, Texas near Dallas.
Joya at Oran Good Park
Construction has already begun on a state-of-the-art 18-thousand-foot playground at the corner of Tom Valley View Lane. This unique playground will have six different play zones with interactive glowing parts and feature a spin zone, slides, swings, a zip line, an obstacle course, and a fully LED-lighted 27-foot climbing sphere, according to FOX4-KDFW.
Families can enjoy the new playground day or night. The park has been named Joya at Oran Good Park, Joya pronounced Ho-Ya meaning "Jewell" in Spanish to honor the Hispanic Latin community it resides in.
Color-Changing Lights
The horseshoe swing and glowing dome use some of the latest technology from KOMPAN, a commercial playground designer behind the making of the park. The playground will feature color-changing lights and a sound system that will play nature sounds and Christmas music during the holidays.
The new park will also have special events throughout the year and will be set up to accommodate large community gatherings for family events, birthday parties, and more.
A $750,000 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife and $4,000,000 from the Federal American Rescue Plan Act is being used to construct the park.
If all goes according to plan Joya at Oran Good Park should be open by November 2023. Farmers Branch, Texas is 2 hours and 54 minutes from Texarkana via I-30 West.
