CHRISTUS St. Michael Health & Fitness Center and Team Texarkana will host the 2nd Annual Twin Cities Kids Triathlon starting at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Health & Fitness Center. 

CHRISTUS St. Michael Health & Fitness Center Manager, Mike Riley said; “This is the second Twin Cities Kids Triathlon. The goal of this event is to introduce children and youth to fitness and the triathlon sport". Riley continued; "The event is VERY beginner friendly but is also great for the ‘seasoned’ triathlete, as well.”

The press release also states the event includes an outdoor swim in the CHRISTUS St. Michael Health & Fitness Center Pool, a bicycle ride on Galleria Oaks and a run on the Sister Damian Walking Trail. The race will consist of three different age groups with varying start times and distances. Children between the ages of six and eight will begin at 3 p.m. with a 50 yard swim, 2.5-mile bike ride and a half-mile run. At 3:30 p.m., the nine and 10-year-old age group will swim 100 yards, ride 2.5 miles, and run one mile. The third age group, children 11 through 13 years of age, will begin at 4 p.m. with a 150-yard swim, five-mile bike ride and 1.5-mile run.

All finishers will receive a competitor’s medal. Awards will be given to the first place male and female of each individual age year and will be presented soon after the last triathlete has completed the course. Packet Pick-Up will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the CHRISTUS St. Michael Health & Fitness Center. Packets will also be available for pick up at the race site from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. the day of the race. Race day registration will also take place from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
