Do you have a piece of carpet lying around the house or in your garage? How about a small shovel? Then you might be able to get your vehicle out of a "stuck-in-the-snow" situation, all by yourself. Let's dig in Ark-La-Tex.

With potentially nasty, snowy, icy cold weather conditions coming late this weekend, we thought it might be a good idea to help you a little before you need it with a quick tip on how to get yourself unstuck from a snowy problem.

What You Need:

Go right now, or at least after reading this, and gather what you might need before it happens and put these items in your vehicle before the weather gets here:

  • carpet remnant
  • small shovel/spade/something to dig with

Take a look around the house or garage and see if you have a piece of carpet remnant lying around doing nothing, 3, 4, 5 feet of it, you know you've been saving it for a special occasion, this could be it.

When You Get Stuck:

First, you will need to use the shovel to clear away some of the snow from around your tire.

Next, using the shovel, clear a path in front of or behind the tire for a few feet, long enough to lay the carpet down in the direction you're trying to go.

Now it's time to drive out. You may need some help getting the vehicle moving with a little push in the direction of travel. This method may or may not work depending on where you are stuck and how much snow you are stuck in. But it's darn sure worth a try.

Our thanks to YouTuber AK's Outdoor Gear for the specific direction of how to pull this method off. Please watch his video for more specific instructions and give the video a thumbs up and subscribe to his channel if you can.

Remember, the best thing to do when we have bad weather is to not leave your house in the first place until it's safe to drive. But the reality is that some of us have to go. So, go prepared, and be safe!
