Police Arrest Former Pleasant Grove HS Employee For Alleged Inappropriate Relationship With Student
The Texarkana Gazette reports that the Texarkana Texas Police Department arrested Heather Rose, age 38 of Texarkana, Arkansas, earlier today for having an improper relationship with a student.
Pleasant Grove Independent School District officials were first notified in August that there was an alleged improper relationship going on between a 17-year-old male student and the educator. According to the TTPD new release, Rose was employed as an instructional aide at Pleasant Grove High School. It is speculated that the relationship actually began October of 2019 and continued for several months. Once allegations surfaced, they were reported to the Texarkana Texas Police Department.
A search warrant was obtained by Detective Cliff Harris to search Rose's cellular phone and social media accounts. It was during this investigation that Detective Harris discovered evidence that Rose and the student were involved in a sexual relationship. While the acts did occur at multiple locations in Texas and Arkansas, there is no indication that any acts took place on school property during school hours.
An arrest warrant was issued for Rose on Monday. She turned herself in this morning. (September 15, 2020). She was booked into the Bi-State Jail and released later today after posting the $40,000 bond set by the judge.
Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student is a second-degree felony. It's punishable by imprisonment for up to 25 years.
