I've posted about this before, so by now I hope you know it is improper to dispose of an old, worn-out US flag by simply throwing it away or chucking it on your burn pile. The proper way to do it is a flag retirement ceremony. So, how do you get it into the hands of someone who is going to be performing one of those ceremonies? Here you go...

The Nacogdoches Railroad Depot is one of the many stops along the Ghosts of Nacogdoches Historic Trail. The trail is maintained by the Boy Scouts of America, East Texas Area Council and open to anyone who likes to hike, and a hike it is.

This week my son Tyler reached the pinnacle of Boy Scouting, the rank of Eagle Scout. My wife and I are very proud as you can imagine.

The Boy Scouts of America, Caddo Area Council Troop 3, are again taking orders for smoked turkeys for Christmas. This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for our scouts. Your ready-to-eat smoked turkeys only cost $40 each and all proceeds go directly to Troop 3 to further advance the experiences of our youth and to assist those who cannot afford the experience of being a scout.

Troop 3 had some hiking to do this past weekend to finish up some merit badges going into their Court of Honor next week. They did great as always.

The Boy Scouts of America, Caddo Area Council's Troop 3 held a Court of Honor last night, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The boys arranged, scripted and executed the ceremony with minimal help from their scout leaders and did a great job.

The older boys in BSA Troop 3 set out last weekend for a Junior Leadership Training weekend on the Cossatot River. We had no idea just how much fun it would be.

Just a reminder that if you were thinking about ordering your holiday bird from Troop 3, now's the time to take care of that. The smoking of the turkeys begins next weekend, November 16 - 18.

It's here, whether we're ready for it or not, it's time to start thinking about where you're going to get your holiday bird to serve to the mass of roving family hoards. The Boys Scouts of America, Caddo Area Council,  Troop 3 of Texarkana has a delicious suggestion...

This past weekend Caddo Area Council/Troop 3 of the Boys Scouts of America had a little camp out. No big jamboree or anything like that, just a "basics" camp out to show several new scouts how to work as a team, cook and clean up after themselves. Oh, and do something to spruce up the signage at the Miller County Gun Range at Smith Park.
